What We Believe

Maku Missions holds to Confessional Reformed Baptist Theology. We subscribe to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith as an accurate, systematic summary of what the Bible teaches.

Our ultimate authority is the Bible alone; the Confession serves as our subordinate standard for teaching, unity, and missiology.

Core Foundations

The Authority of Scripture

The 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the verbally inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. They are supreme and sufficient rule for all faith, life, and worship (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

The Triune God

There is one true, living and sovereign God, eternally existing in three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator and Ruler of all things (Deut. 6:4, Matt. 28:19).

The Fall and Human Condition

Biological men and biological women are equally created in God's Image. Through Adam's disobedience, humanity fell and therefore all people are born spiritually dead, unable to save themselves, and are rightfully under God's wrath (Romans 3:10-12, 23; Ephesians 2:1-3)

The Person and Work of Christ

Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death on the cross to satisfy divine justice, rose again on the third day, and ascended to the right hand of the Father as Lord. (John 1:1, 14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

Salvation by Grace Alone

Salvation is an unmerited gift of God, accomplished solely by the sovereign grace of the Father, the redemptive work of the Son, and the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit. Sinners are justified by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 5:1).

The Local Church and Ordinances

The local church is a gathered community of regenerated, baptized believers under the lordship of Jesus Christ. Christ has given the local church two ordinances: Believers baptism and the Lord's Supper.

The Final State

Jesus Christ will return bodily and visibly in power and glory. He will judge the living and the dead, judging the unregenerate to eternal conscious torment in hell and welcoming the redeemed into eternal life in the New Creation (Revelation 21:1-4, Matthew 25:46)

Core Distinctives

The Five Solas of the Reformation:

Sola Gratia (Grace Alone), Sola Fide (Faith Alone), Solus Christus (Christ Alone), Sola Scriptura (Scriptures Alone), Soli Deo Gloria (To God Alone the Glory).

Doctrines of Grace:

Total depravity, unconditional election, limited (definite) atonement, irresistible grace, and the perseverance (preservation) of the saints.

Passionate, Bold, Public Evangelism:

Faith comes through the hearing of the Word of Christ (Romans 10:14-17) therefore we are committed to active, public, and personal evangelism through the means of open-air preaching, pamphlet distribution, and one-on-one gospel conversations.

Confessional Church-Centric Missions:

Evangelism does not stop at conversion; its biblically appointed goal is the planting and strengthening of healthy local churches.
